How to Create an Addon Domain in cPanel
This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating an addon domain in cPanel using the Jupiter theme.
- Log in to cPanel with your Cheap Host details (see you Account Information email) or via the Client Area
- The most straightforward method is to access your Client Area and then open cPanel from there.
- Locate the Domains Section:
- Once inside cPanel, find the "DOMAINS" section and click on the "Domains" icon.
- Create a New Domain:
- Click on the "Create A New Domain" button.
- Enter Domain Information:
- Domain: Enter the name of the addon domain you want to add.
- Document Root: Leave the "Share document root" option unchecked.
- Home Directory: Choose a subdirectory in your account’s home directory (above `public_html`) to store the files for your addon domain.
cPanel will automatically fill in default values for the subdomain and document root. You can either accept these defaults or customize them as needed.
- Submit the Information:
- Click the "Submit" button to finalize the creation of your addon domain.
- Manage Your Addon Domains:
- Return to the "Domains" area in cPanel to view a list of your addon domains. From here, you can manage or delete these domains as needed.
Additional Information
- DNS Configuration: If your domain is registered with us, no DNS changes are necessary. However, if your domain is registered with a different provider, ensure that your domain’s DNS settings point Cheap Host. If they are not it will prevent you adding a domain in cPanel.
