How to Create and Delete an Addon Domain in DirectAdmin
This guide explains how to add an additional domain to your DirectAdmin hosting account, and how to remove it again if it is no longer required.
What is an Addon Domain?
An addon domain allows you to host an additional website inside the same DirectAdmin hosting account. This is useful if your hosting package allows multiple websites and you want to manage more than one domain from the same control panel.
For example, if your main hosting account is for example.com, you could add another domain such as anotherdomain.co.uk and host it separately within the same account.

- Check the domain is pointing to the correct nameservers or server IP address.
- Upload your website files to the correct domain folder.
- Install WordPress or your chosen website software if required.
- Issue an SSL certificate if HTTPS is required.
- Allow time for DNS propagation if the domain was recently updated.

Common Issues After Adding an Addon Domain
If the addon domain does not load immediately, this is usually caused by DNS, SSL or file location issues.
- The domain may still be pointing to a previous hosting provider.
- Nameserver changes may still be propagating.
- The website files may have been uploaded to the wrong folder.
- An SSL certificate may not have been issued yet.
- The domain may need to be added before installing WordPress or other software.
