Create an Email Account and Configure in DirectAdmin

This guide explains how to create an email account inside DirectAdmin, access webmail, and configure the mailbox in a third-party email app such as Outlook, Thunderbird or Apple Mail.

Before you start: Your DirectAdmin login details can be found in your “New Account Information” email.
The server details below use server.blazingfastwebhosting.com. If your welcome email shows a different server hostname, use that instead.

Create an Email Account

Firstly, log in to your DirectAdmin account using the login details provided in your new account email.

Once logged in to the dashboard, you should see Email Accounts near the bottom right-hand side of the screen.

Create an email account in DirectAdmin
  1. Log in to DirectAdmin.
  2. Find and select Email Accounts.
  3. Click Add New.
  4. You will be taken to a new page called Create Mail Account.

On the Create Mail Account page, you will need to provide the following details:

UsernameEnter the mailbox name you want to create.
PasswordEnter a secure password, or use the auto-generate icon beside the password field.
Email QuotaSet the disk space allowance for this email account in MB.
Send LimitSet the maximum number of emails this account can send per day.

Once you have entered the required details, save the account. Your new email account will then be ready to use.

Using Webmail with DirectAdmin

If you do not want to install a third-party email app such as Thunderbird, Outlook or Apple Mail, you can use webmail to send and receive email directly through your browser.

Your webmail login URL is:

https://server.blazingfastwebhosting.com/webmail/

Tip: Log in using your full email address as the username, for example username@domain.com, together with the mailbox password you created.

The Difference Between POP3 and IMAP

When adding your mailbox to an email app, you may be asked whether you want to use IMAP or POP3.

  • IMAP is usually best if you access email on more than one device.
  • With IMAP, changes made on one device are synced to other devices.
  • With IMAP, you can delete emails directly from the server.
  • POP3 downloads messages and stores them locally on your device.
  • POP3 can be useful if you want local copies of your email.
  • With POP3, server-side syncing is more limited compared with IMAP.
